Backstage at Nordstrom's Spring Designer Preview

Last week I was fortunate enough to help the wonderful ladies at the Nordstrom Fashion Office with their Spring 2011 Designer Preview. The collections were a blend of simple and wild, and the colors were all over the map. Brights and subdued pastels both earned their spotlight, and the show took place in a beautiful private airplane hangar that opened onto the San Diego International Airport's tarmac. The models loaded onto a stage surrounded in all directions by audience. A large box was lowered around them, and the reveal was more than a little dramatic in other-wordly blue light. Enjoy some images from the day of the show, which was ethereal in every stretch of the imagination.

JG Trunk Show a Success

Thanks so much to everyone for coming to Cecilia Boutique yesterday for my trunk show. It was a beautiful turn out, and I had a wonderful time meeting so many new and interesting ladies. Megan McDaniel provided a delightful Lash Bar, glamming us up for a fun Saturday night. Wine and giggles were enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Ariana Drehsler and Thomine Wilson for sharing these fantastic images!

Debut Overdue Release Party

Phaero's second full length music video "Debut Overdue" premiered last night at the New Village Arts Theatre in Carlsbad. A beautiful, brand new theatre is connected to an art gallery within, just off the train tracks in Downtown Carlsbad. Says Phaero; "'Debut Overdue' examines American consumerism through the jagged lens of celebrity". The evening began with a reception in the foyer; wine glasses were clinked, classy nibbles eaten and new friends made. Debut Overdue was projected onto a huge screen, and an enlightening talk-back headed by the enchanting Dr. Monica Stufft followed. Enjoy the video here and check out a couple snap shots from the night!

...of Angels and Artists

Last week, my superfabulous gold-obsessed Italian-Canadian friend Tina was in town. As per tradition, we set sail to the one true heaven that superfabulous gold-obsessed Italian-Canadians would prefer; Downtown Los Angeles.
It began with a swift night drive north, followed by a fantastic night of giggles with Kelsey and Tess (both incredible actors featured in Phaero's second video: out tomorrow! and third video, set to shoot late this Spring). Gin was sipped, hair was feathered, and cars were moved brutally early in the morning to avoid street sweeping tickets.
After an expert mapless navigation of Hollywood (no one has ever been so happy to see a Trader Joe's) we were back in the shadows of the most famous structural group on the West Coast. Santee Alley-a three block stretch of third world-hides in the mid to eastern section of downtown LA. Framed by Olympic, Maple, 9th, and Santee-it is easy to miss and difficult to leave.
Though we have both become meticulously pickier shoppers over the years, scores were scored. Lady Gaga has made a huge impact on the knock-off industry, and recent raids have seemed to clear the alley some.
Tina picked up some fantastic bags and shoes, while I kept it simple,  purchasing sewing supplies and cuts for clients in the immediately North fabric district.
Post consumeriffic spree, we enjoyed some lucky non-traffic and a brilliant drive along the coast of Santa Monica. Channeling Joni and Janice in the shadowy canyons of mystical, magical Topanga, we visited one of my top 5 favorite thrift stores in the world, Hidden Treasures (which is itself a bit of a hidden treasure).
I found the perfect sassy sunglasses and Tina went belt wild (Did I mention that they have a miraculous $1.75 box?!). We drove through the hills, looking for the once famous ex Nude Ranch that revolutionized American sex in the 1960s. Instead, we found a medium to fancy gate around Christian Adigier's vinyard, and were scolded for thinking that two separate driveways were in fact dirt roads.
A delightful nap in the Topanga riverbed, a quick primp and we were off to meet Little Hurricane.
CC and Tone were just in from a wild show in Sacramento, and picked the best possible meal for four weary travelers; Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.
To the city of Los Angeles; I know that we San Diegans give you a tough time about your weather, roads, traffic, super aggressive homeless, etc...but I would like to say thank you for one delightful, easy trip <3
